This is not the Auburn offense of 2013. Not yet at least.
That doesn’t mean that No. 5-ranked AU doesn’t have the full and undivided
attention of an LSU defense still trying to fit the right puzzle pieces
together after five games.
When the No. 15-ranked purple-and-gold Tigers head to The Plains this
weekend, there will be no shortage of challenges awaiting them at
Jordan-Hare Stadium. Right at the top of that list is for the LSU defense
to stand and deliver much better and much more differently than it did in
its first opportunity against an SEC opponent.
That first toe-in-the-water moment was a night to forget as Mississippi
State — which runs a spread, quarterback-triggered offense very similar to
Auburn — racked up 570 yards in a 34-29 victory at Tiger Stadium.

Now comes AU, which began its conference campaign in the season opener and
piled up 595 yards against Arkansas in a 45-21 triumph, almost perfectly
split with 302 on the ground and 293 through the air. Read more…
