to be a cheerleader, but you cant teach a cheerleader to be a gymnast !!!
My daughter is a freshman in HS and a varsity cheerleader and trust me they
do not work even 1/4 as hard as she did in gymnastics!!!
i cant do them. i get round n get good height but i just fall straight onto
my knees. i dont know why this is happening to me. i got standing tucks for
1 day and i kept doing them n then the next day i did the same thing i was
doing and i kept falling on my knees like i do now. i need help n i do wat
im doing here but it doesnt work….any one know why?
no?? same here! but i landed it yestarday and again once today. im so
happy. this is what you do. ok tighten your stomach more. it seems like you
are but apparently your not as much as you could cause i landed it when i
tried harder (: think of yourself pulling harded and try to land with your
legs straight. i landed im so happy. and start up on your toes in a low V

i’m still a bigginer cheerleader but i want to do this soooo much but im
scared to death to do it can ayone offer help that involves NOT say “just
go for it”?
i only do cheer dance now, not cheer stunt and tumble anymore.. but im a
gymnast. personally, i much prefer watching gymnastic tumbles.. but yeaa.
my standing tuck is awful.. its too long and i land on my knees, if not my
face . ahaa.
unless things have changed, it’s important to spot the ground before you
land. The set was there. I promise you it was. When doing tucks, you have
to use your arms to help you set. (well, not all of the time because I know
people who don’t and have great tucks) Again, if she didn’t set, she
wouldn’t have done a tuck. It would have been very low and she would have
landed on her knees.
It’s okay if you do I suppose, it’s good you are able to make it all the
way around. If you land in the same spot, you’re jumping straight up and
down and it takes more to rotate all the way, that’s why people usually
jump opening to the back a little to jump start and speed up the rotation,
and it helps keep from undercutting.
If you aren’t already, set your tuck up and back a little. Also getting
your hands fast under your knees and pulling them hard to your chest should
help you rotate faster. Sorry one last advice if you can see the floor,
pull your feet and try to get them on it (sometimes when people see the
floor they open up, landing them on their knees).
@budgieluver1 Don’t forget about the stunts, jumps, and dance (and
sometimes cheer) that are also a part of cheerleading. Gymnastics may do
more ‘gymnastic disciplines’, but cheerleading is a sport of it’s own which
only uses floor gymnastics as a part of it’s skill set.
i have the same problem… mine is because i let out to soon, yours might
be because ur hips arnt out next time you you keep your legs bent but try
to kick something far away when u are tucking.. it pulls your hips out and
makes you flip quicker

She needs to pike a lil more, but great form besides that
hey, i just got my standing tuck a couple weeks ago and i always land on my
tose and fall forward. do you have any good advise that could help me?

A standing full is elite, a standing back, if anything is intermediate.
i have the same problem… mine is because i let out to soon, yours might

yea i had that problem too… ur probablly tucking under..try pulling your
knees to ur chest!!! it helped me soo much!! let me know how it works out!!!
